With the rise of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, more TV series have been produced, each with top-notch quality deserving recognition. With the COVID-19 still looming above us all, entertainment consumption of the public has dramatically increased. If you’re someone looking for something to watch while staying safe at home, you came to the right place as we will provide you with the best TV shows to watch that have been released this 2020.
The Queen’s Gambit
Perhaps, one of Netflix’s most significant highlights this year is The Queen’s Gambit, a limited series about an incredible chess player, Beth Harmon. The series is set in the 1950s, which adds up to why you should check this out. Aside from an excellent story, the acting talents displayed by the cast is also stellar, allowing you to get immersed and love chess fully!
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
Despite it being lackluster on its first impressions, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist provides an incredible experience, if ever you need one. It packs an emotional story about family and grief. The title itself suggests that it has to do with music, and the series did it flawlessly, with each musical insert perfectly going in sync with each scene.
The Mandalorian, Season 2
The Star Wars universe is hard to describe, especially to those that aren’t familiar with it yet, mainly because of how large and entangled it is. With different media associated with the Star Wars franchise, it is easy to have branching opinions about it. Still, The Mandalorian is the TV series that will be the catalyst that will finally unite these voices. The Mandalorian’s world just got even more prominent, with new cast introductions and lore expansion. Each episode is an excellent work of art, and it is truly a series worth recommending. Even if you haven’t seen any Star Wars related media yet, you can still fully enjoy The Mandalorian, as long as you start with Season 1.
Umbrella Academy, Season 2
Umbrella Academy’s Season 2 took it up a notch and surpassed the passing season by a lot. The character development is something to appreciate, and it is also worth pointing out that they are all well fleshed out. There’s something fun and exciting about the Hargreeves children, venturing and figuring things out in the 1960s. If you haven’t watched the first season yet, then it is highly recommended that you spend some time with it first since Season 2 will be waiting for you to finish.
2020 is packed with many limited series and returning ones that we have seen some improvements. Which one is your favorite so far?
